</TD><TD vAlign=top>ADM’s Grain and Oilseed Divisions pride themselves in being the best at what they do. From the origination of the grain at one of our many Midwestern River Terminals or Processing Plants to the sale and transportation of the product to the overseas buyer, ADM’s fully integrated network allows hundreds of millions of bushels of product to be delivered to necessary destinations in a timely fashion.

To achieve this ongoing commitment, ADM seeks out individuals with a strong desire to excel in an exciting industry. We employ highly motivated employees wanting to compete in fast paced surroundings. Our employees possess strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. We strive to find those questing for a rewarding career full of challenging responsibilities.

The position of Commodity Trader is one of buying and selling commodities in the cash market, as well as making and coordinating arrangements for the transportation of the product. Much of a typical day is spent on the telephone, keeping customers aware of current grain market news while buying and selling grain or products. The office environment can be, at times, hectic as market information is shared verbally among the traders. This activity makes the job exciting and challenging.

Our commodity traders learn the fundamentals of the business by embarking on an intense two-month training curriculum, which involves thorough classroom and on site learning. This program is unparalleled in the industry. Training occurs at our corporate headquarters, river terminals, country elevators and processing plants. Our employees-in-training are given the opportunity to meet with and learn from commodity traders at many of our locations. These traders all have unique stories and ideas to share, which help in molding a better understanding of the business. The primary rationale of the training is to prepare our employees for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

ADM’s traders merchandise commodities in domestic and international markets. Traders have to balance risk management, customer relations, transportation and logistics. Commodity markets are influenced by a myriad of factors from around the world. These include trade policy, supply and demand factors, weather, and transportation costs. ADM’s traders’ ability to evaluate these changing factors drives the Division’s profitability.

All it takes to work for ADM is a commitment to excellence – an agreement to settle for nothing less than executing the utmost quality in all aspects of the job. If you are that individual ready to unite on a journey with an industry leader, ADM is the company that will meet these expectations.

You think thats what it is, cold calling?

I have done cold calling before, and I will never do it again. Although, if there was a chance for a quick advancement I may do it for I know you have to start somewhere to get somewhere.

What are you guys talking about?
There is no sales cold calling in this position.

The only calls he would make are to let the clients know their positions..

This is definately not a sales position.
Sounds like a good gig...and probably very competitve to get that spot.

This isn't a commodities broker, it's a commodities trader. Buying positions for the company, most likely from a hedge position, since they have the grain. It's nothing similar to what a broker does.

How's this working out?

You still interviewing, or did they take someone from the east coast or GSB.

Will find out this week. Interviewed with 12 people last weekend in the final interview. They move you around a lot in this company. Expected time in any given plant is 1-1.5 years before they move you again. Basically they want you to learn how the different markets work all throughout the US. I don't really want to move that much, but if they offer me the job I don't think I will be able to pass it up. Very good company though. Nice people and took really good care of me when I was there.

Thanks for asking Falls.

6 weeks later and now back to square one. Didn't get the job. Thought the interviews went really well, but obviously not well enough. Was a very long process and seemed very competitive for the position. Very disappointed.
